Plain-language change summary

The amended version of Bill SB 453 includes additional requirements for local and regional boards of education regarding safe school climate plans. Specifically, the amendments stipulate that these plans must address daily classroom safety, outlining procedures for handling disruptive behavior and ensuring communication between teachers and administrators after incidents occur. This matters because it aims to improve the safety and management of classroom environments, clarifying roles and steps to be taken when student behavior poses risks. Additionally, the amendments enhance reporting obligations by the Department of Education concerning bullying and safety incidents in schools.
