The amendment changes the title of the bill to include lifeguard certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) alongside the use of automatic external defibrillators (AEDs). It expands the liability protection for individuals using AEDs by including any health care provider licensed or certified by the Department of Public Health, rather than limiting it to specific professions like physicians and nurses. Additionally, it adds specific organizations that can certify lifeguards in CPR. This new language matters as it broadens the scope of who is protected from liability when using AEDs and ensures that more lifeguards are required to have CPR certification from recognized organizations.
