Plain-language change summary

The amendment to SB 479 changes the effective date from October 1, 2018, to July 1, 2018, allowing the provisions of the bill to apply sooner. Additionally, it clarifies that the immunity from civil or criminal liability applies only to actions performed in good faith related to child abuse and neglect cases and excludes malpractice resulting in personal injury or death. This change ensures that individuals involved in reporting or addressing suspected child abuse can act without fear of liability as long as they did not cause the abuse or neglect.
