Plain-language change summary

The amendment to the bill allows the Commissioner of Emergency Services and Public Protection to appoint police officers for various companies, including those providing electric, gas, telephone, water services, and transportation entities like railroads and steamboats. The key change is the removal of the phrase "during his pleasure" regarding the commission duration, emphasizing the commission operates under the commissioner's discretion. This alteration may affect how long these police appointments can remain active and emphasizes the authority of the commissioner in overseeing both the commissioning and revocation of these appointments. Additionally, it specifies that the officers must visibly wear a designation indicating their affiliation while on duty.
