What changed in the latest version

The amendment to SB 485 removes the provision that held judgment lienholders or their attorneys liable for damages if they failed to provide a payoff statement by the requested date. It also specifies that judgment lienholders cannot charge any fees for the first payoff statement requested in a calendar year, unless the request is for expedited delivery with an agreed fee. This change simplifies the requirements for lienholders regarding liabilities while maintaining the no-fee condition for the first request within a year, which could affect how quickly and efficiently payoff statements are obtained by debtors or their representatives.
