The revised version of the bill now requires the Board of Regents for Higher Education and the Board of Trustees for The University of Connecticut to jointly develop and implement a state-wide strategic plan ensuring racial and ethnic diversity at public institutions of higher education, whereas the previous version only allowed the Office of Higher Education to do so. Additionally, the new text specifies that each public institution must implement this strategic plan, which includes setting goals, programs, timelines, and annual monitoring procedures. This change emphasizes a more proactive and mandatory approach to achieving diversity within these institutions.
