Plain-language change summary

The amendment adds specificity regarding Class I renewable energy sources constructed on or after January 1, 2013, including those on brownfields. It allows the Commissioner of Energy and Environmental Protection to select proposals from these sources to meet up to four percent of the load from traditional energy companies, with an additional two percent coming from brownfield sites. This change indicates a focus on promoting renewable energy projects while utilizing previously developed land, which may help drive up participation from providers of renewable energy.
