The amendment to Bill SB 858 modifies the definitions and scope of a volunteer service program for members of the armed forces and veterans. Notably, it clarifies that local organizations can provide services to veterans and their families and emphasizes that volunteers must hold any necessary credentials for specific services. Additionally, the reporting requirements for the department have been updated to reflect annual reporting on the voluntary services received rather than the level of services geographically. These changes aim to enhance clarity and consistency in the volunteer program's implementation and reporting.
