Plain-language change summary

The amended version of the bill adds a requirement for the Office of Higher Education to develop and make available a student loan repayment calculator through a mobile application. This calculator will provide users with an estimation of their federal student loans, including details such as the total principal balance, interest rates, total interest due, monthly payment amounts, and the final payment date based on ten- or fifteen-year repayment schedules. Additionally, institutions of higher education must provide annual instruction to students on how to access and use this calculator.
