Plain-language change summary

The amended bill SB 434 allows school nurses and primary care providers to access the lead surveillance system to confirm if a patient has previously tested positive for lead poisoning, ensuring they can provide appropriate health care. Additionally, it clarifies that all personal information regarding a child, including blood lead screening results, must remain confidential and cannot be disclosed without the authorization of the child's parent or legal guardian. These changes help ensure healthcare providers have the necessary information to address potential lead exposure while protecting the privacy of children's medical records.
