Plain-language change summary

The amendment to HB 7162 updates the way individuals can bring actions under the Connecticut Unfair Trade Practices Act, specifically changing a reference from "42-110" to "42-110b" for consistency. It clarifies that individuals can bring lawsuits on behalf of the state without needing to prove public interest or injury, seeking remedies such as restitution and attorney's fees. Additionally, it ensures that arbitration agreements do not limit an individual's right to file such actions. This means individuals have a clearer pathway to enforce the law without facing barriers related to arbitration or public interest requirements.
