Plain-language change summary

The amendment adds specific definitions for "serious harm to self" and "serious harm to others" within New Mexico’s mental health laws. This change is significant because it provides clearer guidelines for determining when someone may need to be committed for mental health treatment. By establishing these definitions, the law aims to ensure that individuals receive appropriate care while also protecting their rights, ultimately improving the mental health system in the state.
