Plain-language change summary

The key change in SB 19 is the addition of a specific deadline requiring the secretary of public education to adjust the unit value by February 27, 2026, which clarifies the timing for this adjustment. Additionally, the bill emphasizes the need for consultation with various financial and educational committees during the adjustment process. This change matters because it aims to ensure timely and informed decision-making regarding public school funding, which directly impacts education quality in New Mexico.
