The revised version of Bill SB 129 removes a clause that allowed employers to take action against employees using medical cannabis based on their job being classified as "safety-sensitive." This means that now, employers can still prohibit cannabis use during work hours or on their property, but they cannot automatically treat employees in safety-sensitive roles differently just based on that classification. This change is important because it aims to protect the rights of employees using medical cannabis while still allowing employers to maintain a safe working environment.
