Summary

Existing law, the Equity in Higher Education Act, specifies that it is the policy of the State of California to afford all persons, regardless of gender, and various other enumerated characteristics, equal rights and opportunities in the postsecondary educational institutions of the state, and to prohibit acts that are contrary to that policy, and to provide remedies for those violations. This bill would declare that it is the intent of the Legislature to enact subsequent legislation that would provide incentives to encourage women to pursue postsecondary education in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math.
