Plain-language change summary

The recent amendment to Bill LB 749 updates the way state aid to municipalities is calculated by specifying the process for determining average property tax levies and the role of the Auditor of Public Accounts. The changes ensure that the calculations for aid incorporate both bond and non-bond tax request amounts from recent budgets, giving a more accurate reflection of municipalities' financial needs. This matters because it affects the amount of state aid municipalities receive, which can impact their funding for essential services and projects.
