The legislative amendments to Bill LB 762 now clarify that starting January 1, 2027, insurance policies in Nebraska must cover treatments for specific pediatric autoimmune disorders related to infections, particularly those caused by Group A streptococci. This change is significant because it ensures that kids suffering from these disorders, which can cause severe neuropsychiatric symptoms, will have access to medically necessary treatments recommended by their doctors. Overall, this aims to improve the health outcomes of affected children and reduce the financial burden on families seeking care.
