Plain-language change summary

The updated version of LB 275 introduces a new requirement for the Department of Health and Human Services to screen children under its care for eligibility for Social Security benefits. This change is important because it ensures that children who may qualify for these benefits receive the financial support they need. Additionally, the department will now manage Social Security payments for those children, which can help streamline their access to necessary resources. This amendment aims to enhance the welfare of children in state custody by ensuring they receive all available benefits.
