The amendment to Bill LB 183 updates the process for notifying people about abandoned property in Nebraska. Now, the State Treasurer will publish notices to owners of abandoned property specifically between March 1 and March 10 of each year in local newspapers where those owners last had an address. This change aims to improve communication and help ensure that more individuals are informed about any unclaimed property that may belong to them, ultimately making it easier for people to reclaim their belongings.
