The recent amendments to Bill LB 22 introduce the Family Home Visitation Act, which establishes a framework for voluntary home visitation programs aimed at improving the health and well-being of families with young children or pregnant individuals. The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services will oversee funding for these programs, which must include regular home visits from health professionals like nurses and social workers. This change is significant as it focuses on providing support directly in families' homes, potentially leading to better health outcomes for mothers and children in the state.
