The recently amended bill LB 977 makes important changes regarding vulnerable road users in Nebraska. It redefines who qualifies as a vulnerable road user, explicitly including pedestrians in certain situations, as well as operators of bicycles and other small vehicles. Additionally, the bill now requires operators of electric personal assistive mobility devices to yield to these vulnerable road users, enhancing safety for those on the road. These updates are significant as they aim to improve protection for individuals who may be more at risk while navigating roadways.
