The recent amendments to Senate Bill 1607 involve a complete repeal and replacement of the existing section concerning special license plates for professional sports teams. The changes clarify that any individual owner of a motor vehicle, excluding certain larger vehicles, can obtain these special plates by paying a fee to a professional sports team that has a prior agreement in place. This update helps ensure that residents have a straightforward process for supporting their favorite teams through vehicle registration, potentially increasing visibility and support for local sports franchises.
