Plain-language change summary

The revised version of Bill HB 1945 clarifies the definition and reimbursement process for clinical pathology services provided by hospital-based pathologists. Specifically, it now recognizes the professional component of these services as distinct and eligible for reimbursement under the MO HealthNet program, ensuring that physicians are directly compensated for their medical judgment in interpreting lab tests. Additionally, the reimbursement rate is set to be at least 30% of the technical fee schedule, which helps ensure fair payment for pathologists' professional services. These changes matter because they aim to improve the financial support for hospital-based pathologists, enhancing the quality of diagnostic services offered to patients.
