The recent amendment to SB 635 adds a specific sentencing enhancement for drug trafficking offenses committed near drug and alcohol recovery houses. This means that if someone is caught manufacturing or distributing illegal substances within 1,000 feet of a recovery house, judges will have guidelines to impose harsher penalties. This change aims to better protect recovery communities and discourage drug activity in their vicinity, reflecting a focus on supporting those in recovery from addiction.
