The updated version of Bill HR 361 includes new language regarding the capacity auctions conducted by PJM, the organization responsible for managing electricity in the region. This addition emphasizes the critical role these auctions play in encouraging the development of new power plants to meet Pennsylvania's growing electricity needs. This change is important because it reinforces the state's commitment to maintaining reliable and competitive energy prices for consumers while addressing future demand for electricity.
