4:707(E)(5),4:707(E)(5) (6),through (7), (8) and (9) are herebyamended and reenactedreenactedand and R.S.

* * * (5) "Nonprofit healthcare organization" shall mean any organization that provides healthcare services, together with its parent organization, affiliates,subsidiariesandfoundations,thatislicensedorcharteredinthisstate, is affiliated with a hospital that meets the definition of "hospital" as provided Page 1 of 3 Coding:

181 isENROLLED affiliated with a hospital that meets the definition of "hospital" as provided by R.S.

(8)(9) "Public institution of higher education" includes everyin-state public graduateandundergraduateinstitution,graduateandundergraduateinstitution,publicjuniorandcommunitycollege,public publicjuniorandcommunitycollege,public technicalinstitute,andeachseparateschoolordepartmentoftheinstitution,college, or institute when the entire net proceeds are devoted to support the institution.

(9)(10)"Volunteerfirecompany"shallmeananorganizationwhichhasbeen engaged by the governing authority of a parish, municipality, or fire protection district to provide fire protection services to the area of this state under its jurisdiction andandwhichis whichcomprised ispredominantlyof comprisedpredominantlyofindividualsindividuals whowhoprovidesuch provide such services voluntarily and without compensation.

* * * H.(1)H. * * * * * * (5) Notwithstanding Paragraphs (1) and (2) of this Subsection, a nonprofit healthcare organization shall not be required to obtain a license in order to hold, operate, or conduct a game of chance as provided in Paragraph (1)of Subsection Aof this Section.

Proposed law adds the definition of "nonprofit healthcare organization" to mean any organization that provides healthcare services, together with their parent organizations, affiliates,subsidiariesandfoundations,thatis licensedorcharteredin this state,is affiliated with a hospital, and is exempt from federal and state taxation pursuant to the Internal Revenue Code and applicable provisions of Louisiana law.

Proposed law provides that a nonprofit healthcare organization not be required to obtain a license in order to hold, operate or conduct a raffle as defined in present law.

Proposed law provides that the nonprofit healthcare organization not be required to obtain any license as described in present law, from a governing authority of any municipality or parish.

Effective August 1, 2026 (Amends R.S.

4:707(E)(5), (6), (7), (8) and (9);

adds R.S.
