NoThe stateLouisiana agencyState orBoard professionalof orMedical occupationalExaminers licensingand boardthe orLouisiana commissionState Board of Nursing shall not adopt or enforce any rule or policy that prohibits or restricts a licensed healthcare provider under the jurisdiction of either board from using telehealth to evaluate, diagnose, or treat obesity or aprovide relatedweight metabolicmanagementservices,providedthehealthcareproviderconductsasynchronous condition, including the prescription of FDA-approved or compounded noncontrolled medication, provided the healthcare provider conducts a synchronous interaction with the patient and acts within the scope of theirhis license and in accordance with the applicable standard of care.

Proposed law prohibits state agencies licensing boards or commission from adopting or enforcing any rule or policy that prohibits or restricts a licensed healthcare provider from using telehealth to evaluate, diagnose, or treat obesity or a related metabolic condition.

Proposed law requires the healthcare provider to conduct a synchronous interaction with a patient, act within the scope of their license, and in accordance with applicable standard of care.

Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
