18 (3) The terms of the trustees assigned to Division A and Division E as of January 1, 2026, shall expire on August 14, 2030, and their successors shall be elected for a term of five years, commencing on August 15, 2030.

Provides relative to the election and terms of office for members of the board of trustees for the District Attorneys' Retirement System (DARS).
Present law provides that the board of trustees for DARS is composed of the following:
(1) A member of the House Committee on Retirement.
(2) The chairman of the Senate Committee on Retirement.
(3) Six active and contributing members of the system elected by the members of the system.
(4) Two retired members of the system elected by the retired members of the system.
Proposed law retains present law.

18 Proposed law extends the terms of office for certain elected members of the DARS board of trustees such that the terms of two members expire on Aug.
14, 2027, the terms of two members expire on Aug.
14, 2029, the terms of two members expire on Aug.
14, 2030, and the terms of two members expire on Aug.
14, 2031.
Provides that their successors are elected for a term of five years.
Present law provides that a vacancyis filled in the same manner as the office was filled.
Proposed law retains present law and provides that if a vacancy occurs in the office of an electedtrusteeandtheunexpiredtermsislessthantwoyears,theboardshallfillthevacancy by appointment within 90 days for the remainder of the unexpired term.
