Plain-language change summary

The latest version of SB 37 has clarified and specified its provisions regarding lead testing and safety measures for early learning centers and schools. Notably, the requirement to submit lead testing results now applies specifically to schools built before 1978, emphasizing the need for safety in older buildings. Additionally, the language has been refined to focus on risk assessment and hazard control rather than lead removal, which highlights a more proactive approach to preventing lead poisoning. These changes are significant because they strengthen the protections for children and ensure that potential lead hazards are identified and managed effectively.
