In plain language

- Families: Families may benefit from increased access to psychologists and mental health services across state lines.

The latest version of HB 486 introduces a provision allowing the state's psychology board to charge a fee of up to fifty dollars for individuals seeking to practice psychology under the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact (PSYPACT) in Louisiana. This change provides a means for the board to regulate and manage the practice of out-of-state psychologists more effectively. It matters because it ensures that there is a mechanism in place to support the administrative costs associated with overseeing telepsychology and temporary in-person practices within the state, helping to maintain quality and accountability in psychological services.
