The changes made to Senate Bill No. 5 include adding a requirement that any funds from the United States government for elections can only be used if approved by the state legislature. This amendment is significant because it increases legislative control over election funding, which could impact how elections are conducted and financed in Kansas. By limiting the acceptance of federal money, the bill aims to enhance transparency and ensure that state decision-makers have a say in election-related finances.
