The updated version of HB 2102 allows military students to enroll in Kansas schools even before they physically move to the state, as long as they can show that their parent or guardian will be stationed nearby. This means that schools cannot require proof of local address during the initial enrollment process, which can help smooth transitions for military families. Additionally, if a school has a pre-kindergarten program, military students must also be enrolled if eligible, with the option of waiting lists for full classes. These changes aim to provide better educational stability for children of military families.
