The recent amendment to SB 402 extends the time for people to file homestead claims and increases the maximum refund allowed. Importantly, individuals won't lose their eligibility for tax refunds or credits even if their home's appraised value exceeds $350,000 after qualifying in previous years. This change is significant as it helps protect homeowners and seniors from losing financial assistance due to rising property values, ensuring they can maintain their tax relief benefits.
