Plain-language change summary

The recent amendments to Senate File 75 clarify how counties handle vacancies for county supervisors. Specifically, if a vacancy occurs in a county with a population under 125,000, a successor can be appointed instead of holding a special election. Conversely, in counties with a population of 125,000 or more, a special election is required if the vacancy has two and a half years or more left in the term. This change aims to provide a more flexible approach for smaller counties while ensuring that larger counties have a democratic process to fill significant vacancies.
