Plain-language change summary

The recent amendments to House File 248 clarify that adoptive parents will receive the same employment benefits and protections as biological parents during the first year after adopting a child under six years old. This is important because it ensures that adoptive parents are treated equitably in the workplace, allowing them to bond with their new child without losing out on job-related support. The bill also specifies that employees need to meet qualifying criteria for disability leave, making the rules clearer for employers and employees alike.
