Plain-language change summary

The amendments to House File 924 change the minimum age for a person to acquire or carry firearms from twenty-one to eighteen years old when they are under direct supervision. This means that, with consent from a parent or guardian, an eighteen-year-old can possess a pistol or revolver while being instructed by a qualified adult. The change matters because it expands access to firearms for younger individuals under certain conditions, which may raise safety concerns among some community members.
