Plain-language change summary

The recent amendments to House File 919 change the definition of "children’s specialty hospitals" to allow for hospitals with up to 200 inpatient beds, an increase from the previous limit of 100 beds. Additionally, the bill now specifies that these specialty hospitals must have been licensed nursing facilities before July 2025. These changes are significant as they may enable more hospitals to qualify for the designation, potentially improving access to specialized care for children in Iowa.
