Plain-language change summary

The latest version of House File 970 has made a clear shift towards promoting healthier food options for a state nutrition program. It now specifically emphasizes that only nutritious foods and beverages should be included, while previously it used broader language. This change matters because it underscores a commitment to improving public health by ensuring that the supplemental food program supports access to healthy food choices for those in need. Additionally, it establishes that once federal approval for these changes is obtained, it cannot be reversed without new legislation, providing stability in the food program's focus on nutrition.
