Plain-language change summary

The recent changes to House File 784 specify that teachers are to provide support to students who are "persistently at risk" in math until those students meet certain performance benchmarks on standardized assessments. This means that students must achieve their grade-level benchmark on either the statewide assessment or two consecutive assessments. Additionally, the bill clarifies the state's obligation to fund compliance with these new requirements, ensuring that school districts can access the necessary resources through state funding. This matters because it aims to ensure that students struggling with math receive the targeted help they need to succeed academically.
