Plain-language change summary

The recent amendment to Bill HB 5394 introduces specific language that prohibits landlords from using an applicant's credit score or history as a reason to deny rental applications, particularly when the applicant receives a housing subsidy. This change matters because it addresses discrimination against individuals relying on public assistance for housing, ensuring they have fair access to rental opportunities without being unfairly judged based on their credit history. By clarifying these protections, the bill aims to promote equitable housing practices and support vulnerable populations.
