The updated version of SB 1939 has added definitions for important terms like "factory branch," "distributor branch," and "motor vehicle dealer." These changes clarify the roles of manufacturers and distributors in the motor vehicle sales process. Importantly, the amendments reinforce existing rules by explicitly stating that it is a violation for manufacturers to sell vehicles directly to consumers, ensuring that the established dealer network is respected. This is significant because it helps protect local dealerships and maintains fair competition within the industry.
