The updated version of HB 3282 introduces a requirement for public utilities to notify the Illinois Commerce Commission at least 45 days before making any significant changes to their workforce. Additionally, it mandates that utilities submit a detailed report to the Commission explaining the reasons for the changes. This change is important because it ensures more oversight and transparency regarding staffing decisions, which can affect service quality and costs for consumers. If the Commission finds the information in the report inadequate, the utility cannot pass the costs of any related audits onto ratepayers, protecting consumers from additional expenses.
