Plain-language change summary

The amendment to HB 3037 allows students participating in school sports to also take part in nonschool athletic activities of the same sport during the school season, with a waiver from their principal or athletic director. This change means that students can gain more experience and skills without risking their eligibility to play for their school team, enabling them to potentially enhance their athletic abilities. The new rules also allow for up to two waivers per school year, which could be beneficial for students looking to compete in tournaments or all-star team events. Overall, this change aims to provide more opportunities for student athletes to engage in competitive play.
