7 added · 35 removedPlain-language change summary
The amended version of SB 1524 includes the addition of seven new lines while removing 35 lines from the previous draft. This bill, which will be known as the Eddie Thomas Act, now requires the Department of Corrections to prepare an annual report on hospice and palliative care within its facilities. This report will include important demographic and statistical information, helping to ensure transparency and improve care for individuals in custody. This change matters because it emphasizes accountability and the quality of end-of-life care offered to incarcerated individuals.
