The changes made to HB 5020 clarify the procedures for designating a juvenile case as an extended jurisdiction prosecution before trial. The new version emphasizes that the court must hold a hearing within 30 days of a motion being filed, or within 60 days if good cause is shown, ensuring a timely review process. This matters because it helps ensure that cases involving minors are handled swiftly and fairly, while also allowing for public oversight unless privacy is necessary for certain parties involved.
