The amendments to Bill SB 3697 enhance the training requirements for Illinois law enforcement on hate crimes. Specifically, they mandate that training materials help officers better identify hate crimes, support victims, and accurately report incidents. Additionally, the bill now includes provisions for biannual reviews of the training curriculum and consultation with the commission on discrimination and hate crimes to keep the training relevant.
