The updated version of Bill HB 3137 modifies the requirements for signing construction contracts managed by the Department of Transportation. Specifically, it clarifies that the need for approval from the agency's top executives now only applies to contracts of $750,000 or more, rather than to all contracts. Additionally, it allows the Department to adjust this threshold each year to keep up with inflation in highway construction costs. This change could streamline the contract approval process and help accommodate changing economic conditions.
