Plain-language change summary

The bill SB 93 has been updated to include two additional harmful substances, potassium bromate and propylparaben, which are now banned in food products sold in Illinois. The enforcement timeline for the ban has also changed, pushing the ban on manufacturing those substances to January 1, 2027, and the ban on selling them to January 1, 2028. This matters because it increases food safety by limiting exposure to potentially harmful chemicals, ensuring consumers can make healthier choices. Violators will face fines, reinforcing accountability in food production.
