The amendment to Bill H 575 changes the focus from "civil asset forfeitures" to "certain asset forfeitures," broadening the scope to include all types of asset forfeitures handled by law enforcement. Additionally, it clarifies that both state and local agencies are required to submit forfeiture information to the state controller for record-keeping and publication. This change matters because it aims to enhance transparency and accountability regarding asset forfeitures, making it easier for the public to access this information.
