The bill has been updated to include "public transit employees" as eligible participants in the Government Employer-Assisted Housing Program. This change is significant because it recognizes the essential role that transit workers play in the community, allowing them to access assistance for home purchases like other professionals such as educators and first responders. Additionally, the bill's title was changed to reflect the new year, making it clearer and more relevant to current stakeholders.
